Who doesn’t love chocolate chip cookies? No, seriously, we would love to know! It’s the absolute perfect dessert. It caters to chocolate lovers, perfect for cookie or cake lovers, serves a lot of people, and is an easy base for all kinds of variations! Wintertime? Add a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg for a wintery taste. Summer? Switch out the chocolate chips for white chocolate. We even tried our hand at adding Honey Nut Cheerios after watching the episode of “Chef’s Table” about Milk Bar in New York City. A highly recommended episode if you haven’t seen it. Our favorite variation of the chocolate chip cookie, however, is decadent indeed and will absolutely make you the favorite at your next potluck dinner. Nutella. Nutella makes everything better. In this chocolate chip cookie, there is a gooey Nutella center that is simply sinful.

So what do you need for this chocolaty treat? First and foremost, grab a jar of Nutella. You’ll also need ¾ a cup of regular white sugar (or you could substitute it with light brown sugar) and ¾ a cup packed brown sugar (this is a must!). Go ahead and grab 2 eggs, 2 ¼ cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 cup or two sticks of butter,1 tablespoon of vanilla, and finally, half a package of whatever your favorite chocolate chips are. These are your pretty average chocolate chip cookie ingredients, but we liked this recipe ratio the most.    How do you make them? Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 1: and a very important step indeed: grab a small baking sheet, or even a plate will suffice and put teaspoon-sized dollops of Nutella on there. They should be spaced pretty evenly, but try and fit as many on as you can. Pop that bad boy in the freezer. This is a really important step because when you shape the cookies, it will be much easier to close the dough around the Nutella if it’s hard.

Step 2: Put all the dry ingredients in a bowl and put it off to the side; we’ll add that in a minute.

Step 3: Cream the butter and the sugar. You can do this either by hand or in a mixer. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Add dry ingredients and mix.

Step 4: Add half a bag of chocolate chips and mix! Now here’s the fun part. Take the Nutella out of the freezer. After lining a baking sheet with baking paper, take a bit of dough and create a little bowl. Pop off a dollop of Nutella and put it in the cookie dough bowl you just made and close the dough around the Nutella, rolling into a ball. Fill up the sheet and bake till your cookies are ready to your likeness! We usually take them out after about 12 minutes. Let ‘em cool and enjoy the deep decadence that is the Nutella stuffed chocolate chip cookie!
